Jess Meider is one of China’s most celebrated jazz vocalists, renowned for her captivating voice, dynamic stage presence, and ability to forge a deep connection with her audience. Performing fluently in both English and Mandarin, she has built a reputation as a versatile artist who bridges East and West through music.

Originally from New York, Jess has been a part of China’s vibrant music scene since 1997. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, she studied songwriting under the mentorship of Pat Pattison, a world-renowned lyric-writing guru. Her lush writings are featured in Pattison’s best-selling book, *Songwriting Without Boundaries* (2013), underscoring her talent as a songwriter.

Throughout her career in China, Jess has mesmerized audiences with diverse musical projects, including *Chinatown* (electronica), *Junglecat* (China’s first drum & bass band), *Jess Meider Songwriter Ensemble*, and her signature jazz quartet. She has performed at music festivals across China and at iconic venues such as *Blue Note Beijing, the Forbidden City Concert Hall, and East Shore Jazz Café.* In 2023, she billed at the *Montreux Jazz Festival in China.* She sang for the Olympians at the *Beijing Olympics (2008)* and is frequently invited to perform at exclusive events for luxury brands including *Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Mercedes-Benz,* and many more.

Jess’s dedication to sharing her expertise extends beyond performance. In 2015, she was a professor for *Berklee on the Road* in Guangzhou, teaching jazz improvisation and vocalization to aspiring musicians during Berklee’s intensive week-long program. From 2007 to 2011, she taught voice at the *Contemporary Music Academy in Beijing* and continues to inspire as a sought-after vocal and songwriting coach.

Her talents extend into film, TV, and radio. Jess’s jazz quartet backed *Andy Lau* on stage, serenading *Gong Li* in the 2010 film *What Women Want.* Her voice is featured at the climax of *Cui Jian’s* acclaimed film *Blue Sky Bones* and in major advertising campaigns for *MG, Audi, and Godiva,* further solidifying her status as a multifaceted artist.
