JESS MEIDER

A native of New York via Pittsburgh, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Jess has lived in Beijing China for the past 14 years, developing her musical desires and her awareness for teaching to encompass body, mind, and energy.

Jess plays many different styles of music, including jazz, live electronic dnb, rock, songwriter/acoustic, and electronic. She currently performs at Beijing’s top music venues with her rock trio, The Heavenly Stems, her jazz quartet and delights audiences with her solo songwriter shows.

jess also teaches…
Jess teaches vocal gong fu, a deep awareness practice that helps the vocalist to first understand the mechanisms of the body, energy and thoughts to strengthen the voice. She teaches privately and since 2007, as a professor at Beijing’s top modern music university, CMA (Contemporary Music Academy).

She also teaches privately and at one of Beijing’s renown yoga studios, The Yoga Yard www.yogayard.com

Released in February 2011, the Chinese version of “What Women Want” with Andy Lau and Gong Li (biggest actors in Asia), Jess and her jazz quartet back Andy Lau on stage. The film also features two of Jess’s original tunes from her jazz album, Dao, “Now is the Time” and “Kiss.”

Jess also sings for commercials. Most recently featured in China-wide run ads for MG car (2010) and iCool beer (2011)
